Overview
Calpe is instantly recognisable by the Peñón de Ifach, a huge limestone rock jutting out of the sea at the edge of town, and offers a calmer, more scenic alternative to Benidorm a short drive up the coast, with a working fishing harbour and old town.

Both of Calpe’s main beaches are sandy and gently shelving, and the walk (or climb, for older children) partway up the Peñón de Ifach nature reserve is a memorable, free family outing.
Couples, teens & nightlife
A relaxed, restaurant-focused evening scene rather than a nightlife strip — good seafood around the old harbour makes this a popular choice for couples wanting a quieter Costa Blanca base.
Seniors & accessibility
The seafront and old town are mostly flat and easy to manage, and the pace here is generally gentler than Benidorm’s — a comfortable option for older visitors who still want some choice of restaurants and shops.
