Laganas

Resort GuidesGreece › Zakynthos

Zakynthos’ biggest resort strip, with a long beach and a well-known nightlife scene.

Laganas

Overview

Laganas is Zakynthos’ largest resort, with a very long sandy beach and the island’s main concentration of bars and clubs, drawing a predominantly young-adult crowd, alongside quieter family stretches at either end of the bay.

Families & toddlers

The beach is long and gently shelving, part of a protected loggerhead turtle nesting area (boat trips to see them are a popular, genuinely worthwhile family activity), with family accommodation generally at the quieter ends of the bay.

Couples, teens & nightlife

The central strip is one of the busiest young-adult nightlife scenes in the Greek islands; couples wanting calm should look toward Tsilivi or the island’s quieter west coast instead.

Seniors & accessibility

Not a natural fit for the central strip; the quieter ends of Laganas Bay are more workable, though Zakynthos Town or Tsilivi suit older visitors better overall.

Best time to visit

May to October for the beach and turtle-watching boat trips (best avoided in the busiest nightlife months if that’s the priority).
