Overview
Alanya is dominated by a large medieval castle on a rocky peninsula separating two long beaches, and has grown into one of Turkey’s biggest resort towns, with a genuinely wide range of hotels, restaurants and things to do beyond just the beach.
Families & toddlers
Both Cleopatra Beach and the eastern beach are long and well equipped, and the peninsula’s castle and cable car make for an easy, scenic family day out with real history attached.
Couples, teens & nightlife
A big, varied evening scene, from harbourside restaurants to livelier bar areas — enough range that both a quiet couples’ dinner and a bigger night out are easy to find here.
Seniors & accessibility
The harbour and beachfront areas are flat and well set up; the castle itself involves a climb (or a cable car), which is worth knowing if mobility is a concern.
Best time to visit
May to October for the beach; Alanya’s relatively sheltered position gives it a slightly longer warm season than resorts further north.
