One of Mallorca’s best family beaches, plus a genuine, walled old town.

Alcúdia

Overview

Alcúdia, on Mallorca’s north coast, pairs one of the island’s longest and best sandy beaches with a genuinely well-preserved medieval old town a short distance inland — a rare combination of proper beach resort and real historic character.

Families & toddlers

The beach itself (running into neighbouring Playa de Muro) is long, wide and shallow-shelving — one of the best family beaches on the island — and the S’Albufera nature reserve just behind it is an easy, free day out for kids interested in birdlife and cycling trails.

Couples, teens & nightlife

A relaxed, low-key evening scene centred on the old town’s restaurants and plazas rather than beachfront bars — a good match for couples who want atmosphere without a big nightlife scene.

Seniors & accessibility

The old town is compact, largely flat and easy to explore on foot, and the beach promenade is similarly level — a comfortable, interesting base for older visitors.

Best time to visit

May to early October for reliable beach weather; the old town is pleasant to visit even outside peak summer.
