Overview
Corralejo sits at Fuerteventura’s northern tip, right next to the Corralejo Natural Park’s huge sand dunes, and has real working-town character alongside its resort side, including the ferry terminal for Lanzarote. It’s one of the best-known watersports and surfing bases in the Canaries.
Families & toddlers
The old town beach and the dune-backed beaches just south of it both work well for families, and the dunes themselves make a genuinely memorable free day out. Boat trips to the nearby Isla de Lobos nature reserve are a popular, easy family excursion.
Couples, teens & nightlife
A good spread of restaurants and bars in the old town gives it more evening buzz than Fuerteventura’s quieter southern resorts, without tipping into a heavy nightlife scene — a reasonable middle ground for couples.
Seniors & accessibility
The old town is flat and walkable with plenty of accessible seafront dining, though reaching the best dune beaches on foot involves some walking across sand — worth bearing in mind for anyone with limited mobility.
Best time to visit
Fuerteventura is dry and sunny for most of the year, with fairly constant wind (why it’s such a good windsurfing/kitesurfing island) — a reliable winter-sun choice.
