Resort Guides › Turkey › Aegean Coast
A lively Aegean port town, and the gateway to the ancient city of Ephesus.
Overview
Kuşadası is a busy Aegean port and resort town, popular with cruise visitors as well as holidaymakers, mainly thanks to its proximity to Ephesus, one of the best-preserved ancient Roman cities in the world, a short drive inland.
Families & toddlers
The town’s beaches are decent rather than exceptional, but Ephesus itself is a genuinely outstanding family day trip, and Adaland Aqua Park nearby adds an easy water-park day for younger children.
Couples, teens & nightlife
“Bar Street” here has a real, if smaller-scale, nightlife reputation; the harbour and marina areas offer calmer restaurant-based evenings for couples wanting something quieter.
Seniors & accessibility
The town centre and harbour are manageable, though a visit to Ephesus itself involves a fair amount of walking over ancient, uneven ground — worth pacing accordingly.
Best time to visit
May to October for the beach and comfortable sightseeing at Ephesus, which can get very hot at midday in high summer.
