Overview
Los Cristianos started life as a fishing village and still has a working harbour and an older town centre, giving it noticeably more local character than the purpose-built resorts either side of it. It’s the departure point for ferries to La Gomera, and blends into Playa de las Américas at its edges.
Families & toddlers
Two sheltered, breakwater-protected beaches (Playa de los Cristianos and Playa de las Vistas) offer calm swimming water that suits younger children well, and the resort’s smaller scale makes it an easier place to get around on foot with a buggy than its bigger neighbour.
Couples, teens & nightlife
Quieter and more low-key in the evenings than Playa de las Américas next door, with harbourside seafood restaurants and an easy, unhurried pace — though the bigger resort’s nightlife is only a short walk or bus ride away for anyone who wants it.
Seniors & accessibility
A flat, pleasant seafront promenade and a genuinely walkable town centre make this one of the more comfortable south Tenerife bases for older visitors, with the ferry port adding an easy day-trip option to La Gomera.
Best time to visit
Mild and dry through the winter months, hot and reliably sunny in summer — good year-round.
