Magaluf

Resort GuidesSpain › Mallorca

Mallorca’s best-known nightlife resort — plus a genuinely good family beach away from the strip.

Magaluf

Overview

Magaluf is best known internationally for Punta Ballena, its dense strip of bars and clubs geared toward young adults — but the resort itself is bigger and more varied than that reputation alone suggests, with a wide beach and a growing number of smarter family hotels.

Families & toddlers

The main beach is broad, sandy and gently shelving, and the family-hotel end of the resort (away from Punta Ballena) has genuinely good pools and kids’ clubs — worth being specific about location when booking, since the resort’s two halves feel quite different.

Couples, teens & nightlife

Punta Ballena is one of the best-known party strips in Europe, geared firmly at young adults on big nights out; couples looking for something else entirely should look further along the coast (Palmanova or Santa Ponsa, both close by) rather than expect a quiet evening here.

Seniors & accessibility

Not a natural fit for visitors wanting peace and quiet, given the resort’s nightlife reputation — Palmanova next door offers the same beach quality with a calmer evening atmosphere.

Best time to visit

Best May to October for beach weather; the nightlife scene runs hardest through the summer school-holiday months.
