The Old Town has cobbled, sometimes uneven streets, but is compact enough to explore at a gentle pace; the new town’s seafront is flatter and easier going.
Best time to visit
May to October for the beach; the Old Town is worth visiting almost any time of year given its historic (rather than purely beach) appeal.
